Lesson 12: File Management (Pro Tricks) Increase Your Working Speed

In the previous part, we learned basic copy-paste. Today, we will discuss tricks that make you an "Expert" in an office setting. With these tricks, you can manage thousands of files in seconds.

1. Multiple Selection: Selecting Files Together

Shortcut 1 (Ctrl + A): To select all files and folders in the current window.
Shortcut 2 (Ctrl + Click): To select multiple specific files that are not next to each other. Hold Ctrl and click each file.
Shortcut 3 (Shift + Click): To select a continuous list of files. Click the first file, then hold Shift and click the last file.

2. Sorting: Organizing Your Files

Right-click on any empty space inside the folder and select Sort By:

  • Date Modified: This is the most useful option to see your latest work at the very top.
  • Type: This groups all similar files (like all PDFs or all Images) together.
  • Size: Use this to find which files are consuming the most space.

3. Right-Click Drag (The Expert's Secret)

Instead of the left button, use the Right Mouse Button to drag a file. When you drop it, a menu appears asking if you want to Copy or Move. This ensures you never make a mistake!

If you have hundreds of files, use the Search Box in the top-right corner.

Pro Tip: Type .pdf to instantly find all PDF documents in that folder, even if you don't know their names.
