Lesson 23: Remote Help and Online Safety (AnyDesk)
What Will You Learn?
So far you have learned the basics of computer work: saving files, sending emails, and using Google Drive.
But in real life, computer problems can come up at any time. For example:
- • A software is not opening
- • The printer is not connecting
- • An internet setting is confusing
- • Excel or another office software is showing an error
In these situations, an expert or colleague often helps from a distance. This process is called Remote Help.
1. What is Remote Help
Remote Help means: one computer can view and control another computer through the internet.
For example, if you are in Delhi and your colleague is in Mumbai, they can see your screen from their computer and solve the problem. This is done with the help of a special software.
2. What is AnyDesk
One popular software used for remote help is: AnyDesk
AnyDesk is a program that:
- • Connects one computer to another
- • Lets an expert view your screen
- • Allows them to control your computer if needed
It is commonly used in office IT support, by computer technicians, and for remote office work.
3. Real Office Scenario (Where AnyDesk Is Useful)
Imagine your office has a special software that only runs on the office computer — such as accounting software, a company ERP system, billing software, or an internal company portal.
Now suppose your boss or colleague is working from home. They might say: "Please give me AnyDesk access so I can work on the office computer."
Here is what happens:
- • You open AnyDesk
- • You share your ID
- • Your boss or colleague connects
- • They use the office computer remotely
This way, work gets done even from a distance.
4. How to Open AnyDesk
2️⃣ Double click on it
3️⃣ The AnyDesk program will open
4️⃣ You will see a Your Address / ID number on the screen
This ID is used to make a connection.
5. How a Connection Works in AnyDesk
2️⃣ You share your ID with them
3️⃣ They send a connection request from their computer
4️⃣ An Accept / Allow option will appear on your screen
5️⃣ Once you accept, they can view or control your computer
6. One Very Important Rule
Once the help is done, always close AnyDesk and disconnect the session. This is a basic security habit.
7. Online Safety Rules
Remote software is powerful, so it is important to follow some safety rules.
8. AnyDesk Scam Example (Real Life Problem)
Many online scams happen through AnyDesk today. Sometimes scammers call and say things like:
- • "I am calling from your bank."
- • "There is a problem with your account."
- • "Your computer has a virus."
- • "Please install AnyDesk and share your ID."
If someone mistakenly gives their ID, the scammer takes control of the computer, opens the bank website, reads the OTP, and transfers money from the account.
9. When to Use AnyDesk Safely
AnyDesk is useful — but only in trusted situations.
- ✔ Office IT support
- ✔ Known computer technician
- ✔ Trusted colleague
- ✔ Boss or company support team
Always avoid:
- ❌ Unknown callers
- ❌ Fake bank calls
- ❌ Unknown tech support
10. A Simple Safety Habit
Whenever you use remote software:
- ✔ Close the program after work is done
- ✔ Disconnect the session
- ✔ Never show your password or OTP on screen
These small habits protect you from online fraud.
